Cholo Magazine Reprint by Znz
This anthology is incredible! Lovingly cleaned up, researched and printed by Znz in California. Every one is unique because Znz randomized the color paper.
From Znz:
"The first book published by Znz is an anthology of the 1980 zines "Cholo" - issues #1, #2, and #3 - plus "The Mission District" in one handy volume. True to the original publications, this 260-page book features uniquely colored pages and a brass fastener to evoke the zines' aesthetic spirit.
We've had the originals for sale before, and they're very hard to find. And you don't have to pay 300 euros for a French bootleg either. These extremely obscure zines are finally presented in a way that won't break the bank.
Arlington - who passed away in 2014 - was a central figure in the underground comix movement since opening his store and publishing venture "San Francisco Comic Book Company" in 1968 at 3339 23rd St. in the Mission. A huge supporter of the comic artist community, "Cholo" is no different, except that it’s a non-traditional comic collection that includes lowriders, gang tags, prison-style art, local landmarks, random street scenes, and many surprises. It's a love letter to the neighborhood, unlike any other publication of its kind."
