"FLAGGED is a collection of American flag-inspired works by Gary Taxali. Created over many years, these images explore patriotism, protest, identity, consumer culture, and the ever-shifting meaning of national symbols. Through humor, satire, and visual metaphor, the work invites viewers to look beyond the flag itself and consider the stories, contradictions, and ideals it represents."
“Gary Taxali’s ravishing, beautifully-executed artwork looks like some kind of an astonishing discovery from decades ago. And yet, with this set of ingenious (and often heart-breaking) variations of the American Flag, it is very much about NOW.” - Chip Kidd
“Part of the awfulness of living in America now is the feeling of constant gaslighting. No you didn’t see what you saw, no that wasn’t as bad as it was, no this path doesn’t lead where you think it leads. Having someone like Gary cut right to the heart of it is both an inspiration and a comfort… I see you. I know how crazy it is. And we are with you.” - Aimee Mann
100 pages, approx. 8.5" x 11", full color, softcover. "Artist Edition" of 250, self-published by Gary, 2026.
